The Northside Lady Bears look to pick up back to back Tournament of Champions titles this weekend. The annual tournament, held in Northside Arena, will be held from Thursday, December 12th to December 14th (bracket at the bottom of page).
Northside has had a lot of success in the tournament the last couple of years, winning it in 2021 and 2023, while reaching semi finals in 2022 where they lost to Sapulpa.
For some fans, this will be their first time seeing the Lady Bears in action this season. They come into the annual tournament 5-1 in their first 6 games, winning four in a row to start, falling to Booker T Washington High School, but rebounding with a strong 52-32 showing last week against Sapulpa.
The Lady Bears are once again helmed by the legendary Coach Ricky Smith. The team is loaded with talented seniors including the Gooden twins, Hadley Grotjohn, Kaydence Flemming, and more who shine in their overwhelming and varied offensive playstyles.
Erianna Gooden, who recently committed to the University of Colorado, leads the team in PPG at 17 with Junior Camryn Schmidt behind her at 12.8. In their game last week against Bryant, Northside showed off their ability to score from anywhere on the court and their unrelenting full court press had the Bryant offense stymied in their 61-52 win.
The Lady Bears look to punctuate this strong start with a tournament win this weekend. They kick off the tournament tomorrow against Idabel. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM and our live coverage begins at 6:45! As always, Go Bears!
